Bannann peze, also known as Haitian fried plantains, is a delicious and simple dish.

Ingredients

  • Mature plantains
  • Frying oil
  • Salt to taste

Instructions

  • Peel the plantains and cut them into thick slices, about 1 1/2 inches thick.

  • Heat the oil in a frying pan over medium heat.

  • Place the plantain slices in the hot oil and fry until lightly browned on each side, turning occasionally. This usually takes about 3-5 minutes per side.
  • Once the plantains are cooked, remove them from the oil and pass them in salted water, flatten them, then return them to the hot oil until they become golden and crispy.
